BIOGRAPHY:

KRONYK MYTH is a Chicago-based Hard Rock band playing original music. Combining influences from Progressive Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical and Metal, Kronyk Myth creates music that remains true to the masters, while layering the cutting edge sounds of the present to create a unique style of music that is both relevent and marketable. Whether it's the powerful lead vocal of John Weaver or the combination of vocal harmoinies, Kronyk Myth promotes a positive message of life. The guitar of John Vasko, combined with the solid rhythyms of Mike Smith and Jim Watley creates a tapestry of sound that demonstrates the versatility of the band. The intensity of the guitar, the power of the drums, the versatility of the bass, the smooth vocal harmonies, it's all about good words and music.

BAND HISTORY:

As a cover band, Kronyk Myth has been rocking and entertaining crowds since 1996. Staying true to the music, Kronyk Myth paid tribute to the musicians and songs that had influenced them throughout their musical careers. Originally formed around the core of then bandmates John Vasko (guitar), Mike Smith (bass) and John Weaver (Vocals), Kronyk Myth went on to perform for crowds on Chicago's South-side and surrounding suburbs.

In 2001, the focus of the band shifted from playing cover songs to playing original music. A search for a drummer up to the task ensued, until the band found the perfect fit in drummer Jim Watley who brings a passion for drums and rhythym. Out of the fire, Kronyk Myth has emerged with a vision, focused and determined to bring it's blend of original music and it's message to the people.

Kronyk Myth now brings a fine blend of original rock and classic rock covers to crowds in the Chicago metropolitan area, focused on expanding their fan base.

BAND MEMBERS:

JOHN WEAVER: LEAD VOCALS - The frontman and face of the band, John has great presence to his voice, and loves to feed off of the crowd. A dynamic performer who likes to get the crowd involved in the show.

JOHN VASKO: GUITARS, VOCALS - The primary songwriter and visionary of the band. A shredder at heart, John plays the guitar with a passion, combining rhythym and leads while layering rich vocal harmonies over the the lead vocal, and occasionally sharing the vocal lead. A versitile guitarist, John incorporates influences from every era of rock in his playing, playing at a whisper or a scream as the song dictates.

MIKE SMITH (a.k.a. Schmidy): BASS GUITAR - Call him `Schmidy', call him `The Reverend of Rhythym', just don't call him late for the next measure. Schmidy is able to hold down the solid rhythym of a song while asserting his Entwistle-like `lead bass' style within the structure of the song.

JIM WATLEY: DRUMS & PERCUSSION - Jim is one of the hardest working drummers around, pounding out complex rhythyms and thundering beats. Combining his Metal background with the vast array of musical influences, Jim may be best described as a power-jazz drummer.
